The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the most widely used English language test for work, study, and migration. More than 10,000 organisations rely on IELTS as a credible estimate of actual English communication competence. The only requirement for taking the IELTS exam in India and around the world is that the candidate be at least 16 years old. This examination is open to anyone aged 16 and above, regardless of gender, nationality, or background. Exceptions are given only when a school requires the IELTS scores for admission. The conducting bodies have set no upper age limit.

For registrations beginning on January 7, 2023, the IELTS registration fee is Rs. 15,500. This is true for all exam centres in India. In India, IELTS is administered in approximately 130 locations by two organisations: the British Council and IDP.
